FATHOM MOVIE IN THE WORKS
|
Megan Fox is reportedly gearing up to star in a Fathom movie. Fathom, created by Michael Turner, is the story of Aspen Matthews, who was found abandoned on a ship and is adopted by a military man. She becomes a champion swimmer and marine biologist who comes of age realizing she has water-based powers and is part of an underwater race.
According to the trade, the script for the coming film will be written by Jordan Mechner, best known for his work designing the Prince of Persia videogame.
Fox is also slated to appear in the upcoming Jonah Hex movie, as Leila, Hex's love interest. That film also stars Josh Brolin and John Malkovich.

Wizard Entertainment has canceled its upcoming Los Angeles convention (which was to take place in March) and its Dallas convention (scheduled for November).
Two WW conventions are still on though - Philadelphia (in June) and Chicago (in August).
Wizard has issued this press release:
Wizard Entertainment announced today that it has postponed its 2009 Wizard World Los Angeles show slated for March 13-15 and canceled the Wizard World Texas show November 6-8 due to the current economic climate.
The successful Philadelphia and Chicago shows will go on as planned. Wizard World Philadelphia, featuring Guest of Honor Garth Ennis, is June 19-21 at the Philadelphia Convention Center and Wizard World Chicago, featuring comic legend George Perez, is August 6-9 at the Rosemont Convention Center.

EMERALD CITY ANNOUNCES 2009 GUESTS MIGNOLA, TEMPLESMITH & MORE

Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and 30 Days of Night co-creator/artist Ben Templesmith are the most recent additions to the ever-swelling guest list for the 2009 Emerald City ComiCon, the premier comic book and pop culture convention in the Pacific Northwest.
"This will mark the first time that either of these celebrated creators have appeared at ECCC," said Organizer Jim Demonakos. "It's like a One-Two Punch of awesome."
Other creators making their first appearance ever include Adi Granov (Iron Man), Darwyn Cooke (The New Frontier), Humberto Ramos (Runaways), Matt Fraction (Uncanny X-Men), Barry Kitson (Amazing Spider-Man), Jimmy Palmiotti (Jonah Hex), Alex Robinson (Too Cool To Be Forgotten), Greg Horn (Secret Invasion), Bob Layton (Iron Man), Khoi Pham (Incredible Herc), Mark Brooks (X-Men) and many others.
"We're continually committed to giving our attendees a great convention experience by bringing them the freshest creators, publishers and exhibitors around," continued Demonakos.
