JOSH SCHWARTZ TO WRITE X-MEN: FIRST CLASS MOVIE
|
Josh Schwartz has been tapped by 20th Century Fox to write an X-Men: First Class movie, Variety is reporting.
According to Variety, Schwartz, 32, could possibly direct the film, which will be produced by Lauren Shuler Donner, who has produced all three X-Men films and X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Simon Kinberg, a writer on X-Men: The Last Stand.
Neither Fox nor Marvel Studios has confirmed the report. It is unclear which mutants the new movie would feature and how it would fit into previous movie continuity.
Schwartz is currently executive producer and creator of The CW's Gossip Girl and NBC's Chuck. He was also the creator and executive producer of The O.C., and, at age 26, he became the youngest person in network history to create a network series and run its day-to-day production.
Schwartz will make his feature-film directing debut for Paramount with Famous Last Words, a coming-of-age story he is adapting from John Green's 2003 novel Looking for Alaska.

The Wolverine cast has grown again, adding five new players to the upcoming X-Men spin-off film - Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Taylor Kitsch as Gambit, will.i.am as John Wraith, Dominic Monaghan as Beak, and Daniel Henney as AgentZero.
The three newest cast members join several others (already announced), including Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth (nope, definitely not the dude from the first X-movie), Danny Huston as Col. William Stryker, Lynn Collins as Kayla Silver Fox, and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
That's a lot of mutants...
X-Men Origins: Wolverine, directed by Gavin Hood, is filming in New Zealand, and will open in theaters on May 1st, 2009.
Check the forums for some images of each cast member & their respective comic character.
