Walking Dead #33 - 24 Hour Sellout
|
THE WALKING DEAD #33 is an instant sell out! The most controversial
issue of Robert Kirkman's end-days epic to date has sold out at
Diamond in less than 24 hours, and to respond to the overwhelming
demand, Image Comics is going back to press .
In a world filled with flesh-eating zombies, humanity must become
savage to survive. This issue features ex-lawyer Michonne turning the
tables on her sadistic captor the Governor – who Wizard Magazine
named "Villain of the Year." Fans everywhere are talking about the
latest haunting installment of the fan-favorite zombie saga.
"A 24 hour sell-out is an incredible achievement," said Image's
Executive Director Eric Stephenson. "Robert Kirkman and Charlie
Adlard really pushed the envelope with this issue. It's terrifying,
it's challenging, and what's so great about THE WALKING DEAD is you
never know what's going to happen next. From brutal action to
desperate romance to powerful commentary on the human condition,
anything can happen in THE WALKING DEAD. This horrifying issue is a
great example of why this series is such a hit."
The zombie tale that never ends just got a whole lot darker. THE
WALKING DEAD #33 will be back in stores in early January.
The second printing of WALKING DEAD #33 will ship on December 16th
and on sale December 27th.

Silent Cars That Sleep At Traffic Lights, and it will turn the Madman
world upside down. It’s designed so that new readers can jump on,
but buckle up, because it’s gonna be a strange and scary
rollercoaster ride!”
“Image has always been the company designed by creators, for
creators, and we’re honored to welcome Mike aboard!” says Image
Executive Director Eric Stephenson. “He’s always had a great vision
for his comics, and we’re excited to be the ones to bring his vision
out to the world.”

PHONOGRAM #1 & #2 SOLD OUT, GOING BACK TO PRESS
|
Evoking feelings of
experiencing the best of both pop comics and pop culture, PHONOGRAM
has struck a chord with retailers and fans alike. Now, both PHONOGRAM
#1 and PHONOGRAM #2 have sold out at Diamond!
With high demand and heaps of critical praise, Image Comics is going
back to press on both of the issues. Each issue will feature the
same cover as the original with some slight color changes, otherwise
no changes will be made to the content except for an indicator in
the indicia that the books are Second Printings.
"When Image told us we’d sold out, we were horrified," says writer
Kieron Gillen. "We put our Fugazi albums loudly on repeat and started
to prepare a statement that, as punky ex-fanzine kids, we will NEVER
sell out. Eventually Image managed to explain that they weren’t
casting dispersions at our unimpeachable artistic integrity, but
they’d just ran out of copies to sell."
"In which case we thought we better print some more," adds artist
Jamie McKelvie.
The new printings of PHONOGRAM #1 and PHONOGRAM #2 are scheduled to
be in stores in late October.
PHONOGRAM traces the misadventures of Phonomancer
David Kohl as he hunts for whoever is interfering with his old
patron, the long-dead Goddess of Britpop, Britannia. If he fails,
history itself will be rewritten - with him entirely out of it.
"Phonogram’s the comic we’ve wanted to create since literally the
first moment McKelvie and I met," says Gillen, "It was something we
were compelled to do. For this labour of love - by two unknowns -
about a mid-nineties pop-cult to not just find an audience, but a
sizeable and voracious one is somewhat overwhelming. And pleasing.
Enormously pleasing."
"The only thing that makes me happier than Phonogram selling out,"
says Jamie McKelvie, "is having more copies printed so even more
people can read it."

CREATOR OF FAN-FAVORITE DOGWITCH RETURNS WITH "THE SCRIBBLER"
|
Meet Suki. She has multiple
personalities. She hears voices. She's crazy... but not for long.
Suki is almost ready rejoin society thanks to the Siamese Burn, an
experimental machine which is burning those voices away one by one.
All except for THE SCRIBBLER; that one is getting louder. For a
voice, it doesn't talk much - instead, its messages come in the form
of backwards scribbles.
And what it's scribbling is "Let me out!" That is the premise behind
THE SCRIBBLER, a 96-page original graphic novel by writer/artist Dan
Schaffer (INDIGO VERTIGO, Dogwitch) out this November from Image Comics.
"THE SCRIBBLER is not a superhero story, but it might be superhero
story in negative," explains Schaffer. "The heroes are all nutters,
characters with secret identities that are so secret, even they don't
know about them! And they're engaged in a fight between good and
evil, but it might not even exist. It's not so much a dissection of
superheroes themselves, because this is really not a superhero book,
but is an exploration of archetypes, the reasons we invent them, and
how we use them to create and fight invisible wars."
Confined to Juniper Tower, a halfway house for crazies where suicides
are a daily occurrence, Suki starts losing time - whole days - and
somebody's been modifying the Siamese Burn in her absence. With the
help of Hogan, an old hospital boyfriend, and a cranky hallway
stalker called Alice The Pusher, Suki plays a dangerous game
experimenting with the machine, trying to understand its ultimate
purpose. But each time she plugs herself in, the machine changes...
and so does she. The Scribbler is growing and fighting to get out.
"THE SCRIBBLER explores our perceptions of identity and how that
affects the way we experience ideas of good and evil. It asks the
question, who are you? And then gives you a moment to doubt your
answer," says Schaffer.
THE SCRIBBLER is a 96-page black & white original graphic novel
retailing for $7.99 and is available for pre-ordering now in the
September Previews. It is scheduled to be in-stores November 15th, 2006.

LIONS, TIGERS AND BEARS VOLUME ONE GETS NEW PRINTING
|
Readers just can’t seem to get
enough of the wildly popular LIONS, TIGERS AND BEARS books. With the
first miniseries selling out of every consecutive issue and the first
printing of LIONS, TIGERS AND BEARS, VOL. I TP selling out as well,
it only made sense for Image Comics to release a second printing of
the book.
Follow Joey Price on the adventure of a lifetime through the Stuffed
Animal Kingdom is this epic all-ages odyssey! When Joey’s worst
fears, The Beasties, come crawling out of his closet in the middle of
the night, he finds out his new stuffed animals, The Night Pride, are
more real and more needed than he ever could have imagined.
"I’m extremely happy we were finally able to get this story back in
print. The demand for it far outweighs the available supply of books
we’ve been able to put out so far," stated series creator and writer
Mike Bullock. "We never dreamed the book would catch on like it has,
and we’re overjoyed with the response we’ve see from parents,
teachers, librarians and others of just about every walk of life. The
only downside has been that there just aren’t enough books to meet
the demand. Hopefully, this new edition will cure that."
The new printing will feature everything that made the first printing
such a hit, as well as extra content including an introduction from
series editor Ron Marz, new pinups and an added back up story.
With the news of a feature film in development, as well as the
continuation of LIONS, TIGERS AND BEARS Volume II from Bullock and
new series artist Paul “Gutz†Gutierrez, this book is the perfect
place for those who’ve never experienced the Stuffed Animal Kingdom
to find out what the excitement is all about. A third volume is on
the horizon, so now is the perfect chance to get in on the ground floor.
