Body Bags: Father's Day A Sell Out
Image Comics BODY BAGS: FATHER'S DAY #1, the
reprint of Jason Pearson’s previously sold out mini-series, is on pace
to sell out again! The initial inventory sent to Diamond Comic
Distributors has been depleted, with back orders from retailers adding
up. With this in mind, 12 Gauge Comics, through its publisher Image
Comics, has decided to send all of their personal copies to Diamond.

12 Gauge President Keven Gardner had this to say: “I am ecstatic about
the response so far to BODY BAGS! Our initial order numbers came in
strong, so we did an aggressive overprint. Just a few days have gone
by, and the book is out of stock. I talked with Jason, and we’ve
decided to send all of the extra copies we had printed for ourselves to
Diamond to get them into stores immediately. We won’t have copies to
sell at cons and give to friends, but we’d much rather get them in the
hands of the fans the best way, and that is through the retailers.”

Creator Jason Pearson is equally enthusiastic, saying “I can’t believe
how the fans keep responding to BODY BAGS. This gets me even more
excited as I work on the new BODY BAGS material.

 Online Preview of the Covenant
Image Comics Available online now at Top Cow are the first 22 pages of The Covenant, a brand new original Graphic Novel by Top Cow Productions, hitting stores in September.

Top Cow's new book is already set to be made into a live action feature film by Screen Gems in 2006, produced by Lakeshore Entertainment (producers of Screen Gems' Underworld and upcoming Underworld: Evolution). The Covenant features the Top Cow debut of Tone Rodriguez (Violent Messiahs) and the return of Aron Coleite (Proximity Effect), who also currently writes for NBC’s original hit series Crossing Jordan as well as Top Cow’s upcoming V.I.C.E. “I’m excited about this book because we’ve wanted to work with Tone for a while,” said Top Cow President Matt Hawkins “and we can’t get enough of Aron right now.”
Another new name has been added to the Top Cow herd in colorist Blond who offered his specialty services for the book.

The Covenant is a 96 page full-color original graphic novel that follows the
story of four teenage boys who all come from great families of powerful
warlocks and are sent to summer camp to hone their powers. Years later when a
mysterious murdering spree hits the town of their old camp, Caleb, Pogue, Reid
and Miller begin to fear that their childhood antics may have played a role in
the murders. Now the boys have returned to Camp Iwahanee with feelings of
guilt, the mission of solving the case and stopping the terror before anyone
else turns up dead.

Top Cow may have found a new great working duo or at the very least created a
new friendship. “I’ve been a big fan of Tone’s,” said Coleite. "With 'Violent Messiahs' Tone created a world so rich - I had to take a shower after reading it. I came up with the story before Tone signed on, but afterwards I tried to write to Tone's strengths. Amazing detail. Killer action. An overall fantastic journey. With Tone’s strengths being utilized, he was able to deliver the book that will not disappoint Tone supporters or Top Cow fans. "You know I love the fact that Aron will write up a description that ends with, 'Tone, now 'just have fun.' It's just the kind of encouragement that I dig,” commented Rodriquez.

Retailers can order The Covenant graphic novel from the September 2005 Diamond Previews catalog for a retail price of $9.99, which arrives in early
September.

 Freshmen #1 Sells Out
Image Comics Freshmen #1, the first issue in Top Cow Productions' new college-meets-superpowers series, has sold out. The issue hit stands July 13, 2005, and was sold out at the distributor level the day after.

Freshmen is the co-creation of actor Seth Green (Oz of Buffy-fame) and writer Hugh Sterbakov. The intoxicating and comedic tale of incoming college freshmen gaining wild and untamed superpowers has taken the comic world by storm. "I couldn't be more excited. This is a real thrill. I love that people are reading and loving the book," said Seth Green.

Both Green and Sterbakov are lifelong comic fans and collectors, enjoying their first chance to create in the comics field. "This is a huge honor for me," said writer Hugh Sterbakov. "As a longtime comic book fan, I'm blown away that my first comic has exceeded expectations. I hope the readers enjoy these characters as much as I have, and I can't wait to get the next issue in their hands so they can see where the story is really going!"

Hunter Killer #1 Sold Out, TPB on the Way
Image Comics Hunter-Killer, the hit ongoing series published by Top Cow Productions, has sold out of its first issue. The creative team of Mark Waid and Marc Silvestri has launched this title, and Top Cow is now offering a Hunter-Killer Collected Edition that will collect issues #0, #1, #2 and #3. The 80-page collected edition will be in stores July 27, 2005 for only $4.99.

“Marc and I both are pleased and overwhelmed by the demand for our new series--once Diamond sold out of issue one, I had to take my own personal copies into my local store to fill requests from their customers, and I've never been happier to put comics in the hands of fans,” said writer Mark Waid. “This special ‘combo’ edition of Hunter-Killer is for those latecomers who want to catch up and be ready for the thrill ride that kicks into high gear with issues three and four!”

Both Mark Waid and Marc Silvestri will be guests at Wizard World Chicago, August 4-7, 2005. So visit the booth (& beg for freebies while you're there).

 Walking Dead back to Press
Image Comics Image Comics is going back to press on
Volume 3 of Robert Kirkman's THE WALKING DEAD series.

SAFETY BEHIND BARS, which collects issues #13-18 of the acclaimed
series, was printed well above the standard overprint for trade
paperbacks - almost 400% over initial orders.

With the stock of more than 20,000 copies nearly gone after only six
weeks, Image wanted to ensure there would be no interruption in the
availability of THE WALKING DEAD.

"Frankly I'm at a loss for words," said Robert Kirkman. "We've sold out
of our initial print run in less than two months. I love this book,
and I enjoy working on it but I don't know what people are doing with
this book--smoking it? This news, to me, means that I can continue
writing the book and nothing makes me happier than that, I hope we'll
be sending press releases like this out for volume 63.
"

The newest printings of THE WALKING DEAD Volume 1 & 2 (DAYS GONE BYE
and MILES BEHIND US, respectively) collect the
first twelve issues between them and are available now. The second
printing of SAFETY BEHIND BARS will be in stores by the end
of July.

 Girls Sells Out (Again!)
Image Comics

Girls"Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine a response like this," said
Joshua Luna, "and with only two issues in, we've really only scratched
the surface. Readers can expect some major twists and turns as the
book progresses, so if you think things are crazy now, you
definitely need to see where this story is heading. Plus, I think a lot
of people can relate to a "boy meets girl" type of story
."

The new printings of GIRLS #1 and GIRLS #2 are available now - contact your local retailer for ordering. GIRLS #3 is due in stores July 20th.

 Deadworld Sells Out
Image Comics The CoverThe first Image Comics’ issue of DEADWORLD has sold out! Written by Gary Reed & illustrated by Vincent Locke, DEADWORLD was reborn under the Image banner when the first issue shipped in early May - the title had a previous run of over 50 issues from Caliber.

DEADWORLD tells the tale of a world that has suffered the unleashing of a supernatural holocaust. The dead have returned to walk the earth but these are not just mindless hordes of zombies as the humans find themselves facing an even grimmer outlook - intelligent zombies. Leading the way is the sarcastic, Harley-riding, chain-smoking King Zombie.

Creator/writer Gary Reed is also bringing a collection of his acclaimed Caliber series to Image in September. SAINT GERMAINE: SHADOWS FALL will be a 168-page trade paperback that will collect the first four issues of the series in addition to the one-shot, Restoration.

The Cover Art on the first four issues is by Vincent Locke, Reed's current collaborator on DEADWORLD. On the Restoration one-shot, Locke was joined by other artists who illustrated specific scenes and artists include: Galen Showman, Mike Perkins, Guy Davis, Nate Pride, Philip Xavier, and Laurence Campbell.

“The Shadows Fall storyline is a complete story,” said Reed, “as the first four issues introduced the characters and established the premise. However, I didn’t think the ending had come full circle and we alreay movedonto th next soryline so theRestoraion oneshot went back to finalize the opening storyline. Now, the full story can be in one cohesive package.”

SAINT GERMAINE \centers on the man who claimed to be immortal and his life-long love interest, Lilith. The two have lived through time and are able to snatch the memories of those near death. Through those memories, Germaine and Lilith have lived an eternity yet died a thousand deaths.

Reed explained that the opening of the series deals with Germaine contemplating his death…a true death. “He has been without Lilith for quite some time and life has lost its meaning to him,” said Reed. “However, when Lilith re-emerges, things are different as she blames him for her plight of immortality.”

Both SAINT GERMAINE and DESPERADO are from the Desperado Publishing Studio. SAINT GERMAINE: SHADOWS FALL will be published in September. DEADWORLD is a bi-monthly series.
